Wow – the gardens grew A LOT over the holidays!
At 9.30am we had a special Green Day assembly. During the assembly we talked about our Care Code and reminded everyone about our four different bins so we recycle properly.
We spent the day caring for our school environment – weeding, sweeping and tending the gardens.
Thanks to all the children and adults that came to school on their scooter or by walking. Being TravelWise is good for your fitness, wakes up your brain for learning and is great for the environment. It also means less pollution from cars and reduced chaos at our school gate!
Owairaka’s Care Code
We Save Water
We turn off taps every time we have finished using them. We don’t run the water when brushing our teeth and we have five minute showers.
We Save Power
We turn off switches when we are finished using them or when we leave the room. We also use screensavers.
We Protect Nature
By watering, feeding and touching with care.
We Recycle Properly
We put rubbish in the right bins. That helps us look after the worms and the planet.
We Look After Animals And Insects
By creating habitats for them and not killing helpful insects.
We Pick Up Rubbish Everywhere
Even if we didn’t drop it and it’s outside the school grounds.
